The Dead Tour 2009 Inspired by Obama

January 9, 2009

Tickets to The Dead are moving fast, but this Grateful Dead tour might never have happened if not for the optimism of the great American voter. The four surviving Grateful Dead members responsible for this 20 city US tour were initally inspired to unite after playing two fundraisers for Barack Obama. Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kruetzmann have been the heroes of Hippies everywhere, but have not regularly toured or performed as a group since Jerry Garcia’s untimely death in 1995. The prospect of a Grateful Dead resurrection were almost zero, but the president elect’s fundraisers lit a flame under the surviving Dead members and the rest is history. It’s time to think about Grateful Dead tickets in a new way; with only Garcia missing and a new dawn in American politics, 2009 could well be the best year in music in quite a while.
